Reading Skills Training Checklist

A reading skills training session depends on more than a good lesson plan. You need the right room, confirmed participants, suitable texts, tested presentation equipment and enough materials for every exercise. Start by fixing the date, location and teaching team, then build the programme and prepare the participant list. In the final week, check dietary requirements, print worksheets, test the projector and set up the reception and coffee stations before attendees arrive.

Tips

  • Confirm the instructor, supervisors and training room before sending invitations. Participants need the correct location and schedule, while you need enough tables, chairs and working space for the planned exercises.
  • Set a registration deadline at least 7 days before the session. Use the final participant list to confirm attendance, collect dietary requirements and prepare name badges, writing folders, pens and notepads.
  • Finish the learning materials before the last week. Select the reading texts, prepare the exercises and tests, compile the presentation, and print enough worksheets for every confirmed participant plus 2 spare copies.
  • Test the laptop, projector, projection screen, HDMI cable, presentation clicker and power supply at least 1 day before training. Keep an extension cord and power strip available so the setup does not depend on one wall socket.
  • Set up the room at least 60 minutes before registration. Arrange tables and chairs, place the reading books and writing materials, prepare the reception table, and start the coffee and tea station before the first participant arrives.
