Tips

  • Confirm registrations and dietary requirements before calculating catering quantities. Create one final participant list so name badges, workbooks, seating and refreshments match the expected attendance.
  • Finish the training programme and choose the exercises and case studies before printing workbooks or preparing practice cards. This prevents last-minute changes to materials used during the coaching practice.
  • Check the room at least one day before the training. Test the laptop, projector, screen, HDMI cable, extension cords and power strips together rather than assuming the equipment will connect on the day.
  • Prepare the registration desk before participants arrive, including the attendance list, name badges and badge holders. Allow at least 30 minutes for setup so registration does not compete with the introduction.
  • Set out workbooks, writing folders, pens, sticky notes, practice cards, feedback forms and action plan cards before the first exercise. Chill drinks and arrange coffee, tea, cups, glasses and plates after the room layout is complete.

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance should I organise a coaching skills training session?
Book the training room and send invitations at least 3 to 4 weeks ahead. Finalise registrations, dietary requirements and catering quantities 5 to 7 days before the session, then complete the room and equipment check the day before.
How many people should one coaching skills training room accommodate?
Plan for one chair and enough writing space per participant, plus room for paired or small-group practice. Confirm the final number 5 to 7 days before training so you can adjust tables, chairs, workbooks and refreshments.
What should I prepare for coaching practice exercises?
Prepare the selected exercises and case studies, then provide practice cards, feedback forms and action plan cards for each participant. Print and sort the materials at least 1 day before training, with a few spare copies available.
When should I set up the coaching training room?
Complete the main room setup at least 30 minutes before participants arrive. Test the presentation and place the training materials before opening registration, while coffee, tea and chilled drinks can be set out immediately afterwards.
