Pest Prevention Training Checklist
Use this checklist to organise a pest prevention training session from the first planning decisions through the safety briefing. It covers the details that are easy to leave until the last minute: confirming the trainer, preparing demonstrations, checking presentation equipment and setting up separate work areas. Allow enough time to print participant materials, prepare case studies and test every connection before attendees arrive. The plan includes 46 tasks and 60 items to help you run the session in a clear, controlled order.

Tips
- Set the training goals before booking the room or preparing case studies. This gives the trainer a clear basis for the programme and helps you decide which demonstrations and identification materials are needed.
- Confirm the room layout and technical setup with the venue before the training day. Check the projector, screen, HDMI cable, extension cords, power strips, microphone and portable speaker rather than assuming they will be available or compatible.
- Prepare demonstration stations separately from the presentation area. Place the mouse traps, bait box models, pheromone traps, insect traps, inspection mirrors and flashlights where participants can see and handle them safely.
- Send the programme, route and registration details before the session, then print the participant list and worksheets at least one working day in advance. Use the registration list to check dietary requirements and prepare the reception table.
- Arrive early enough to set up tables, chairs, the break area and presentation equipment before registration begins. Complete the safety check before receiving participants, especially around demonstration materials, cables and walkways.
Frequently asked questions
- How far in advance should I organise pest prevention training?
- Start booking the room and trainer at least 4 to 6 weeks before the training date. Send invitations once the programme, route and registration process are confirmed, then close final preparations during the last working week.
- What equipment is needed for pest prevention training?
- Plan for a laptop, projector, projection screen, HDMI cable, extension cords and power strips, plus a microphone or portable speaker if the room is large. Test the full presentation setup before participants arrive, not just the laptop.
- How early should I arrive to set up pest prevention training?
- Allow at least 90 minutes before registration for room setup and technical checks. This gives you time to arrange the reception desk, tables, chairs, break area and demonstration stations, then complete the safety check.
- What should I prepare for the practical demonstrations?
- Prepare the demonstration materials before the training day and check each station on arrival. Include the relevant traps, bait box models, inspection mirrors, flashlights and insect identification cards, with enough space for participants to observe safely.
