Mocktail workshop checklist

A mocktail workshop needs more than recipes and attractive glasses. You have to match the menu to dietary requirements, prepare fresh ingredients at the right time, and give every participant enough room to work. This checklist takes you from invitations and registrations to the welcome drink, demonstrations and workstation setup. Use it to check what must be confirmed early and what should wait until the day itself.

Tips

  • Send invitations early enough to collect registrations and dietary requirements before you finalise the participant list. Use the confirmed number to plan ingredients, recipe cards, glasses and workstation space.
  • Put the workshop menu together before shopping. Test the recipes, note the exact measurements, and check whether each recipe needs a shaker, citrus squeezer, blender, kettle or another specific tool.
  • Buy non-perishable ingredients first, then check refrigerated products close to the workshop. Wash fruit and herbs and prepare garnishes on the day, so they remain fresh without sitting out for hours.
  • Set up one workstation per small group with cutting boards, knives, measuring tools, mixing bowls and waste access. Keep ice, chilled drinks and shared equipment easy to reach without blocking the demonstration area.
  • Leave time for a safety check before participants arrive. Check knives, hot water from kettles, electrical equipment, spills, stable tables and clear walkways; place recipe cards at the stations before serving welcome drinks.

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance should I plan a mocktail workshop?
Start invitations and registrations at least 2 to 3 weeks before the workshop. Finalise the participant list and dietary requirements several days before shopping and printing recipe cards.
How many mocktail recipes should a workshop include?
Plan 2 to 3 recipes for a workshop of around 2 hours. This leaves time for an ingredient demonstration, preparation, tasting and cleaning instead of rushing through too many drinks.
When should I prepare fruit and herbs for a mocktail workshop?
Wash fruit and herbs on the workshop day, ideally 2 to 4 hours before participants arrive. Prepare garnishes shortly before setup and keep refrigerated ingredients chilled until needed.
How much time do I need to set up a mocktail workshop?
Allow 60 to 90 minutes for tables, chairs, equipment, glasses, recipe cards, garnishes, chilled drinks and the reception table. Add another 15 minutes for the final safety and cleanliness check.
