What you need for a job application workshop
A job application workshop needs more than handouts and a laptop. Prepare one complete set of materials for each participant, plus a small reserve for late registrations or damaged copies. You will also need presentation equipment, writing supplies and a simple coffee and tea setup. Use the registered headcount to calculate quantities, then check the venueβs furniture, power and catering arrangements before shopping.

Tips
- Prepare one worksheet pack, notepad, pen and folder for every registered participant, then add 10% extra. For a group of 20, that means 22 sets so one missing or late-arriving participant does not disrupt the session.
- Bring at least one clipboard for each person if participants will complete exercises away from the tables. Keep spare pens and markers available; allow one spare pen for every five participants.
- Plan two to three drinks per person for the first hour, including coffee, tea and water. For 20 participants, prepare roughly 40 to 60 servings and check that you have enough mugs, glasses, teaspoons and serving trays.
- Pack the presentation kit together: laptop, projector, projection screen, HDMI cable, extension cords and power strips. Test the cable and presentation at the venue at least one day before the workshop rather than discovering a connection problem at setup.
- Print the participant list, programs, name badges, worksheets and evaluation forms at least 24 hours ahead. Keep 10% extra copies of worksheets, programs and evaluation forms for last-minute registrations and reprints.
