Fruit Market Shopping List
A fruit market needs more than fresh produce. You will also need a practical way to display, move, chill, serve and sell it. Use this list to prepare stalls, crates, tables, payment equipment and serving supplies before the market opens. Order fruit early enough to confirm quantities and check its condition on delivery. Perishable fruit should go into cool storage as soon as it arrives, rather than waiting until setup.

Tips
- Plan at least one fruit crate or suitable storage container for each product group, plus a few empty crates for sorting and damaged items. This prevents mixed stock and makes replenishing stalls faster.
- Keep chilled storage ready before the delivery arrives. Have refrigerators or coolers running at least 2 hours beforehand, and move fruit into them immediately after checking the order.
- For every tasting or prepared serving point, provide separate cutting boards, fruit knives, serving spoons, bowls and reusable cups. Prepare at least one serving utensil per dish to avoid queues and cross-use.
- Bring payment terminals, cash drawers and extension cords together in one clearly labelled box. Test every terminal and power connection at least 1 hour before opening, including a backup payment option.
- Use price tags that can be read from 2 metres away and keep spare tags, markers and tape at the sales point. Pack a transport cart for each long route between delivery, chilled storage and the stalls.
Frequently asked questions
- What do I need for a fruit market?
- You need fruit crates, market stalls, tables, storage or chilled containers, serving bowls and spoons, cutting boards and fruit knives. Add payment terminals or cash drawers, price tags, power cables and transport carts before opening.
- How much fruit should I buy for a fruit market?
- Base the order on expected registrations or visitors, then allow roughly 10β15% extra for sampling, damaged pieces and uneven demand. Confirm final quantities with suppliers at least 3β5 days before the market.
- How long can fruit stay out at a market?
- Keep cut fruit chilled and put it back into refrigeration or coolers within 2 hours; use a 1-hour limit in hot weather. Whole fruit can remain on display longer, but replace bruised or warm stock during the day.
- When should I prepare the fruit market shopping list?
- Prepare the equipment and serving-supplies list at least 1 week before the event. Place fruit orders 3β5 days ahead, and check all refrigeration, payment equipment and power connections on the day before setup.
