Tips
- Plan tableware for every seated guest, plus roughly 10% extra for breakages, dropped cutlery and late additions. Count dinner plates, dessert plates, forks, knives, spoons, water glasses and wine glasses separately rather than assuming one place setting covers everything.
- Allow at least one carafe for every 6–8 guests at each dining area, and provide serving tongs and platters for every buffet section. These are often forgotten until the caterer is ready to serve.
- For an outdoor farm venue, arrange party tents and a dance floor before the final setup day, not on the wedding morning. Add coat racks and clothes hangers if guests will arrive in jackets or the celebration runs into cooler weather.
