Chocolate workshop shopping list
Use this shopping list to prepare a hands-on chocolate workshop without missing the small items that slow everyone down. Buy ingredients according to the number of confirmed participants and the recipes you have selected, then portion them before guests arrive. Check dietary requirements and allergens before placing the order. You will also need enough bowls, tools, molds, cooling space and serving items for each workstation, not just for the demonstration table.

Tips
- Plan one complete workstation for every 4β6 participants. For each station, check that you have mixing bowls, measuring cups, spatulas, a whisk, piping bags and access to a cutting board and chefβs knife.
- Allow at least 2 chocolate molds per participant if the workshop includes more than one batch or design. Buy a few extra moldsβaround 10% above the participant countβfor breakage, mistakes or late additions.
- Order ingredients only after dietary requirements and recipe allergens are confirmed. Prepare separate, clearly marked portions for allergen-sensitive participants rather than relying on memory during the workshop.
- Provide one digital thermometer for each melting or tempering station, or at minimum one thermometer per 4β6 participants. Test induction plates, microwaves, kettles, extension cords and power strips before setup day.
- Allow one dessert plate and one cutlery set per participant, plus 10% extra. Chill drinks in coolers before guests arrive and place waste bins where chocolate packaging and disposable materials are used.
Frequently asked questions
- How much chocolate do I need per person for a workshop?
- Plan around 150β200 g of chocolate per participant for a practical workshop, depending on the recipes and whether guests take products home. Add 10% extra to cover spills, tempering tests and uneven portions.
- How many chocolate workshop stations do I need?
- Set up one workstation for every 4β6 participants so everyone can handle the ingredients and tools. A group of 20 therefore needs about 4β5 stations, with a separate demonstration table.
- What equipment is easy to forget for a chocolate workshop?
- Digital thermometers, extension cords, power strips, piping bags and enough cooling space are commonly missed. Test all electrical equipment at least 1 day before the workshop and check that the venue has enough sockets.
- When should I prepare the ingredients for a chocolate workshop?
- Confirm recipes, allergens and dietary requirements 3β5 days before shopping. Portion dry and prepared ingredients on the day before, then chill drinks and complete the workstation setup at least 60 minutes before participants arrive.
