What to Bring for a Bootcamp
A bootcamp needs more than workout equipment. You also need a clear check-in setup, enough drinking water, shade or shelter, and supplies for recovery afterward. Use this shopping list alongside your plan to check that every station can run without sharing essential gear too often. The quantities below are starting points for a group of around 20 participants; adjust them to your attendance limit, training format and venue.

Tips
- Plan at least 1 reusable cup and 1 large water refill point for every 5 participants. For a two-hour session, allow roughly 1 to 1.5 litres of water per person, especially in warm weather.
- For circuit training with 20 people, prepare 5 to 6 stations and aim for one marker or cone per station plus 2 to 4 extra. Having spare markers prevents a delayed session when one gets moved or lost.
- Provide one exercise mat for every participant using floor exercises, or at least 10 mats for a rotating group of 20. Check resistance bands, ropes and weights one day before the bootcamp rather than on arrival.
- Pack a first aid kit, spare towels and hand-cleaning supplies where the coach can reach them within 30 seconds. Keep a charged phone and the venue address with the kit in case an injury needs outside help.
- Bring 2 to 3 tables, 10 to 20 chairs and one clearly marked registration table for a group of 20. Pack extension cords, power strips and lights at least one day ahead, and test the speaker and microphone before participants arrive.
Frequently asked questions
- What equipment do I need for a bootcamp?
- For a 20-person bootcamp, plan 5 to 6 training stations with cones or marker discs, mats, resistance bands, skipping ropes and selected weights. Add stopwatches, whistles, training bibs and a portable speaker so the session can run clearly and on time.
- How much water do I need for a bootcamp?
- Allow about 1 to 1.5 litres of water per participant for a two-hour outdoor session. For 20 people, that means 20 to 30 litres, with extra water available during hot weather or intensive training.
- How many exercise mats do I need for 20 people?
- Buy or bring 20 mats if everyone will work on the floor at the same time. If the workout uses rotating stations, 10 mats can be enough, provided no more than half the group needs one at once.
- What should I pack for an outdoor bootcamp?
- Pack shelter such as a party tent, lighting for low-light conditions, coolers, reusable cups, towels and a first aid kit. Check the forecast the day before and prepare an indoor alternative no later than 24 hours before the session if rain is likely.
