Bird Fair Shopping List
A bird fair needs more than tables and display cages. You will need safe transport and spare cages, feeding and drinking supplies, clear booth identification, and practical equipment for exhibitors and visitors. Power leads, cable covers and lighting are easy to overlook until setup starts. This shopping list helps you gather the physical supplies early, while your floor plan and exhibitor numbers determine the final quantities.

Tips
- Plan one tablecloth, booth number, name badge and clipboard for every exhibitor stand, then add at least 10% spare stationery for replacements and late changes.
- Prepare at least one spare bird cage for every 10 exhibitor cages, and keep transport cages separate so birds can be moved safely during setup or an emergency.
- Count one waste bin for every 5 to 8 tables and place extra bins near refreshments and the exit. Empty them before the visitor area becomes crowded.
- Match power strips and extension cords to the floor plan, not just the number of coffee machines. Cover every cable crossing with a cable mat and keep LED work lights available for dim setup areas.
- For refreshments, provide one reusable cup per expected user plus 10% spare, and stock separate coffee cups, plates, cutlery and serving spoons if food is being served.
Frequently asked questions
- What do I need for a bird fair?
- You need display and spare bird cages, transport cages, feeding and drinking supplies, tables, chairs, tablecloths, waste bins, signage and booth numbers. Add power equipment, lighting, payment equipment and refreshments based on your exhibitor and visitor numbers.
- How many spare bird cages should I have for a bird fair?
- Allow one spare cage for every 10 cages in use, with at least two spare cages for a small fair. Check their condition before the event and keep them accessible during setup.
- How many tables and chairs do I need for bird fair exhibitors?
- Allocate the number of tables shown on your floor plan, then add 10% if the venue allows it for registration changes or equipment. Provide at least one chair per exhibitor or booth unless your exhibitor briefing says otherwise.
- When should I buy supplies for a bird fair?
- Buy standard consumables and signage at least 7 days before the fair. Check cages, power equipment, payment devices and reusable tableware 2 to 3 days before setup, leaving time to replace missing or damaged items.
