Asian Market Shopping List
An Asian market needs more than ingredients and food stalls. Youβll need serving ware for different dishes, reliable power for cooking and drinks, and enough tables, chairs and shelter for vendors and visitors. Use this list to shop and pack by area: stalls, food preparation, serving, drinks and signage. Check quantities against your expected attendance and the number of exhibitors, then buy fresh produce as close to opening time as possible.

Tips
- Count serving ware per expected visitor, not per stall. Reusable plates, bowls, cups, chopsticks, forks and spoons need a washing or collection plan, with extra pieces available during the busiest hour.
- Confirm each exhibitorβs equipment before shopping. Food warmers, induction hobs, coffee machines and kettles may be needed by only some stalls, while extension cords, power strips and cable mats must cover the full layout.
- Keep cold drinks in coolers before opening and prepare thermos flasks for hot drinks. Chill drinks several hours in advance rather than waiting until the stalls are set up.
- Shop for fresh produce on the day of the market or the evening before. Bring cutting boards, paring knives, mixing bowls and measuring cups if vendors will prepare or portion food on site.
- Buy or pack tablecloths, serving platters and serving tongs for every food stall, then add labels and route signs before exhibitors arrive. Transport carts save time when moving tables, chairs and supplies from the unloading point.
Frequently asked questions
- What do I need for an Asian market food stall?
- Plan for a serving platter or bowls, serving tongs, tableware and the cooking equipment required by that stall. Check each vendor at least 7 days before the market so missing equipment can be hired or bought in time.
- How many plates and cups do I need for an Asian market?
- Start with at least 1.5 sets of plates, bowls and cups per expected visitor if washing is not available during the market. For 100 visitors, that means at least 150 of each frequently used item, plus chopsticks, forks and spoons.
- When should I buy fresh food for an Asian market?
- Buy fresh produce on the day of the market where possible, or no earlier than the evening before. Chill drinks and other perishable items for several hours before opening and keep them in coolers until needed.
- What equipment do I need for power and cooking?
- Check the layout and each stallβs needs before booking power. Allow enough extension cords, power strips and cable mats to reach every powered appliance, and confirm the supply at least 7 days before the event.
