Treibball competition checklist
A Treibball competition needs more than a field, balls and a start list. Set the rules and classes before opening registration, then use the entries to build the schedule, check dog details and plan officials and volunteers. Venue access, parking, route signs and power are easy to overlook until the event day. This checklist keeps the administrative work, field setup and participant communication in the right order.

Tips
- Set the competition date and venue before sending invitations. Confirm access times, parking, power and shelter space, then allow enough time for the registration desk, judges’ table and field markings to be set up.
- Publish the rules and competition classes before opening registration. Give participants a clear closing date for entries, dietary requirements and dog details so the start list is not built from incomplete information.
- Recruit volunteers as soon as registrations open and assign specific jobs, including registration, timing, scorekeeping, parking and dog-waste support. Give each team a written task and a named contact before the event.
- Prepare the running order from the final entries, then send the schedule and participant information before competition day. Print spare copies of forms, certificates and start lists in case the printer or laptop is unavailable.
- Check the field and event equipment at least one week beforehand, including spare balls, cones, field marking tape, stopwatches, measuring tapes, scoreboards, number vests and dog water bowls. Test the sound system, microphones, extension cords and walkie-talkies before loading the car.
Frequently asked questions
- How far in advance should I organise a Treibball competition?
- Start venue, date, rules and judge arrangements at least 8 to 12 weeks before the competition. Open registration only after the classes, entry information and closing date are confirmed.
- When should Treibball competition registration close?
- Close registration 7 to 14 days before the event so you can check dog details, collect fees and create the start list. Keep a short buffer for corrections before sending the final schedule.
- How many volunteers do I need for a Treibball competition?
- Plan for at least 1 volunteer at registration, 1 scorekeeper, 1 timekeeper, 1 field assistant and 1 person for parking or participant support. Add more people when several classes run at the same time or breaks are short.
- What equipment should I prepare for a Treibball competition?
- Prepare the competition balls plus spare balls, cones, field marking tape, start line mats, numbered vests, bib numbers, scoreboards, stopwatches and measuring tapes. Also pack dog water bowls, waste bags, communication equipment and backup power supplies at least one day before the event.
