What to buy and bring for a training camp
A training camp needs more than balls and cones. You also need enough hydration, serving equipment, meal-preparation tools and reliable gear for several training sessions. Use the quantities in your participant list to scale this plan before shopping. Check equipment stock early, because pumps, bibs, extension cords and cooling supplies are easy to overlook and harder to replace at the last minute.

Tips
- Plan at least two reusable cups per participant if you cannot wash them during the day. Add extra cups for trainers, supervisors and visitors so the food and drink area does not run short.
- Prepare water for every training block, not just for the meal break. Fill water jugs and drink dispensers before participants arrive, and keep coolers and ice packs ready for hot sessions.
- Check every ball, mini goal and resistance band at least 3 days before camp. Inflate balls, count cones and bibs, and order missing materials before the final participant list is closed.
- Pack one complete timing and communication set for each active training area: a stopwatch, whistle and charged power bank. Test the Bluetooth speaker and extension cords before opening the venue.
- Buy or reserve serving items based on the largest meal service, not the average one. Count plates, cutlery sets, serving spoons, platters and buffet trays for everyone eating at the same time, then keep a small spare buffer.
Frequently asked questions
- What equipment do I need for a training camp?
- For the training areas, plan balls, cones, marker cones, bibs, mini goals, resistance bands and mats. Add a ball net, pump, stopwatches and whistles, then check the stock at least 3 days before the camp.
- How many cups and plates do I need per participant?
- Use at least 2 reusable cups per participant when there is no washing station. Plan 1 plate and 1 cutlery set per meal, plus around 10% extra for replacements, trainers and late additions.
- How much water should I bring to a training camp?
- Prepare at least 2 litres of drinking water per participant for a full training day, then add more for hot weather or intense sessions. Fill drink dispensers and water jugs before the first training block.
- When should I do the training camp shopping?
- Check your equipment and shopping list 7 days before the camp and place orders for missing materials immediately. Do the final food and drink shopping 1 day before, with fresh items bought as late as practical.
