Street festival shopping list
A street festival needs more than food and drinks. You will need equipment for stalls, serving, seating, power, lighting, payments and waste collection, often spread across several locations on the route. Plan quantities from your guest count and the number of food or market stalls. Order hired items and confirm deliveries at least two weeks ahead; disposable or forgotten small items can usually be bought during the final week.

Tips
- Plan one serving setup per food stall, including a cooler or refrigerator, food warmers where needed, serving spoons, cutting boards and chefβs knives. Add one spare serving utensil per busy stall.
- For reusable tableware, allow at least 1.5 cups, plates, bowls and sets of cutlery per expected guest if washing during the event is not possible. Keep a separate clean supply for the final service period.
- Map power before buying or hiring equipment. Count every coffee machine, kettle, refrigerator, food warmer and light, then add extension cords and power strips long enough to reach each stall without creating trip hazards.
- Prepare a cash and payment point for each busy sales area rather than relying on one queue. Bring payment terminals, cash registers, price and menu cards, plus a small amount of change if cash is accepted.
- Buy or reserve lighting and communication equipment before the event week. String lights, LED lamps, battery lanterns, a megaphone and flashlights cover stalls, walkways and late pack-down when normal street lighting is not enough.
Frequently asked questions
- How much tableware do I need for a street festival?
- Plan for at least 1.5 reusable cups, plates, bowls and cutlery sets per guest when there is no washing station. For 200 guests, that means 300 of each item, plus serving utensils for every food stall.
- How many coolers or refrigerators do I need for a street festival?
- Use at least one dedicated cooler or refrigerator for each food or drink stall that needs chilled storage. Add one separate unit for drinks if the food storage will be opened frequently.
- When should I order street festival equipment?
- Reserve tents, market stalls, tables, chairs, refrigerators, toilets and power-related equipment at least two weeks before the festival. Confirm delivery times and access details again during the final week.
- What power supplies do I need for a street festival?
- List the wattage of every powered item and map the route from the available supply to each stall. Buy or hire extension cords and power strips with enough length for the layout, and keep at least one spare cable and one flashlight for troubleshooting.
