What to Bring for a Sports Clinic
A sports clinic needs more than balls and cones. You will need equipment for each sports station, clear group identification, hydration, food service and a basic first aid setup. Plan the shopping around the number of participants and stations, then pack each station separately so coaches can start without searching for supplies. Check the forecast before buying or packing weather-sensitive items, and arrange indoor alternatives if the outdoor fields cannot be used.

Tips
- Prepare one equipment box per sports station at least 1 day before the clinic. Include the cones, balls, ladders, ropes, bands or mats needed for that station, plus a stopwatch and whistle if the coach will use them.
- Plan drinking water for the full programme, not just the arrival period. Provide at least 500 ml per participant for every 2 hours of activity, with extra water available in coolers or jugs on warm days.
- Bring more participant identification supplies than the confirmed headcount. Prepare badges or markers for 10% more people than registered, especially when groups change between sports stations.
- Pack first aid and communication equipment where supervisors can reach it within 1 minute. Keep the first aid kit together with whistles, the megaphone or portable speaker, and a charged phone or other agreed communication method.
- Buy or collect serving supplies before the final setup day. For a group of 40, start with at least 40 reusable cups, plates and sets of cutlery, plus 10% extra so food service does not stop when items are misplaced or dropped.
Frequently asked questions
- What equipment do I need for a sports clinic?
- For each station, plan the specific sports equipment first: cones, field markings, balls, poles, agility ladders, skipping ropes, resistance bands or mats. Add one whistle and stopwatch per active coach or station, then pack the equipment in separate storage bins.
- How much water should I bring to a sports clinic?
- Use at least 500 ml per participant for each 2-hour activity block, and bring extra on hot days. Keep water in coolers, thermos flasks or jugs so it is available at registration, between stations and during lunch.
- How many cups and plates do I need for a sports clinic?
- Plan one cup, plate and cutlery set per participant for each meal or serving period, plus 10% spare. For 30 participants, that means at least 33 of each item if you cannot wash and reuse them during the clinic.
- When should I prepare the sports clinic shopping list?
- Make the first list 1 week before the clinic, after the number of participants and stations is clear. Check equipment and buy missing supplies at least 2 days beforehand, then pack station boxes and catering items the day before.
