Tips

  • Plan around two to three drinks per person for the first hour, then one to two per person for each additional hour. Chill the drinks in coolers several hours before the quiz starts.
  • Buy or pack at least two working pens per team, plus several spares for the registration and presentation tables. A team that loses its only pen should not have to interrupt a round.
  • Allow one clipboard or firm writing surface and one score sheet per team for each round. Print extra answer sheets and scoreboards so a spill or misprint does not stop the quiz.
  • Bring enough glasses, cups, plates and cutlery for the maximum number of attendees, then add roughly 10% spare. Put coffee cups, kettles and the coffee maker together so hot drinks do not create a queue at the snack table.
  • Test the laptop, projector, screen, speakers and microphone at least 60 minutes before doors open. Pack extension cords, power strips and the correct audio cables; these are commonly forgotten even when the main equipment is ready.
