What you need for a Pride run
A Pride run needs more than race bibs and water. You will also need clear route markers, visible safety equipment, registration supplies, finish-line items and reliable communication between volunteers. Use the shopping list below to organise equipment for the start, course and finish, then check quantities against your expected field size. Order shirts, bibs and medals early, and leave time to test the sound system, power supplies and timing equipment before race day.

Tips
- Order participant shirts, bib numbers, bib straps and finisher medals as soon as registration numbers are stable. Allow at least 3β4 weeks for production and add a small surplus for late changes or damaged items.
- Plan water around the route, not only at the finish. For a warm or longer run, prepare at least 500β750 ml per participant in total, plus disposable cups, coolers and water jerry cans for replenishment.
- Make the course visible at every turn. Use route arrows, cones and ribbons, and give traffic controllers safety vests and marshal batons so participants can identify them quickly.
- Pack registration materials in separate boxes for the registration tables: bibs, clipboards, pens and any spare straps. Bring power banks and walkie-talkies so volunteers can stay in contact if mobile coverage is unreliable.
- Test the start and finish setup before participants arrive. Check the arches, speakers, mixer, microphones, extension cords and megaphone, and keep flashlights available for early setup, late pack-down or poor light.
Frequently asked questions
- How much water do I need for a Pride run?
- Plan about 500β750 ml per participant for the event, depending on distance, weather and access to refill points. Add extra water for volunteers and keep reserve supplies in jerry cans and coolers.
- How many race bibs and shirts should I order?
- Order one bib number, bib strap and shirt per registered participant, then add around 5% spare stock. Review the quantities when registration closes and allow at least 3β4 weeks for shirts and printed items.
- When should I buy route markers and safety equipment?
- Buy route arrows, cones, ribbons, safety vests and marshal batons at least 2 weeks before the run. Lay out the route once during that period to check that every turn and crossing is covered.
- What equipment do I need for race-day communication?
- Provide walkie-talkies for key volunteers, a megaphone for participant instructions and power banks for phones or timing devices. Test everything at least 3 days before the event and charge it again the night before.
