What to Bring and Buy for Pilates Training

A Pilates training session needs more than a mat for each participant. Prepare the equipment before registration starts, then set up the room so people can move safely without sharing essentials. This list covers Pilates gear, reception supplies, cleaning items, furniture, sound and power accessories, plus drinks for the break. Check your inventory first and buy only what is missing. Plan quantities from the confirmed participant list, with a small buffer for damaged or forgotten items.

Tips

  • Provide one Pilates mat per participant and keep 10% extra if possible. For a group of 20, prepare 22 mats so a late replacement does not disrupt the session.
  • Count shared equipment by exercise rather than buying one of everything per person. Have enough Pilates blocks, resistance bands, balls, rings and practice straps for the exercises your teacher has planned, plus a few spare pieces.
  • Prepare the reception supplies before participants arrive: one clipboard and pen for each registration point, name stickers for every attendee, and printed attendance and schedule sheets.
  • Do not leave room preparation until the training starts. Check the floor, disinfectant spray, microfiber cloths, mop and waste bins beforehand, and place towels where participants can reach them.
  • Charge the tablet and Bluetooth speaker on the day before training. Pack charging cables, extension cords and power strips, then test the sound and timer before laying out the mats.

Frequently asked questions

How many Pilates mats do I need for a training session?
Plan one mat per participant and add 10% spare capacity. For 20 people, prepare 22 mats; this covers a forgotten mat, a damaged mat or a late registration.
What Pilates equipment should I buy for a group class?
Start with mats, then match blocks, resistance bands, balls, rings and practice straps to the teacher’s exercises. For shared equipment, prepare enough for the largest exercise group and add 1–2 spare items where space allows.
How much water should I provide for Pilates training?
Allow about 500 ml per participant for a typical session, with extra for a longer class or warm room. For 20 participants, prepare at least 10 litres and set out reusable cups and water jugs before the break.
When should I buy and prepare supplies for Pilates training?
Check your inventory 3–5 days before the session and buy missing supplies no later than the day before. Charge electronic equipment, print attendance materials and set out cleaning supplies before participants arrive.
