Motorcycle Rally Shopping List

A motorcycle rally needs more than fuel and a route. You will need supplies for registration, visible route marking, rider safety, refreshments and a weather-proof start and finish area. Buy or gather the route and safety equipment early, then handle drinks, cups and food service closer to the event. Use your rider count to scale consumables: plan two to three drinks per person for the first hour, plus extra water for hot weather.

Tips

  • Prepare one registration pack for every expected rider: a bib number, wristband, route map and a pen or clipboard for the check-in team. Add at least 10% spare bibs and wristbands for last-minute changes.
  • Use route arrows at every turn that could be missed, and bring fastening straps plus waterproof route covers. Pack extra signs for the test drive, damaged markers and any route change on the day.
  • Assign one cooler for drinks at the start and another for the finish or main stop. For the first hour, allow two to three drinks per rider, with additional water when the forecast is warm.
  • Set up one waste bin near registration, one by the drinks table and one in the finish area. Reusable cups reduce waste, but bring enough plates, cutlery and coffee cups for the largest meal or break.
  • Give each marshal a reflective vest and place a first aid kit where volunteers can reach it quickly. Keep traffic cones, barrier tape and a fire extinguisher at the start and finish area, not locked away in a vehicle.

Frequently asked questions

What should I buy for a motorcycle rally?
Plan supplies in five groups: registration, route marking, safety, refreshments and the start/finish setup. For each rider, allow one bib number, one wristband and one route map, then add 10% spare items.
How many drinks do I need for a motorcycle rally?
Allow two to three drinks per person for the first hour, including water. Add extra water in warm weather and keep drinks chilled in at least two coolers if riders finish at different times.
How many route signs do I need for a motorcycle rally?
Count every turn, junction and confusing stretch during a test drive, then add at least 10% extra route arrows. Pack fastening straps and waterproof covers so signs remain visible in rain or wind.
What safety equipment is needed for a motorcycle rally?
Provide a reflective vest for every route marshal, at least one first aid kit at the start or finish, and traffic cones and barrier tape for vehicle and rider separation. Keep a fire extinguisher at the event area and check access before setup.
