Glamour wedding shopping list

A glamour wedding needs more than flowers and champagne. You will need coordinated tableware, seating details, serving pieces, ceremony supplies and dΓ©cor that can be installed on time. Use the quantities on the plan as your starting point, then add a small buffer for breakages, late guests and last-minute changes. Confirm dietary requirements before buying food, chill drinks several hours ahead, and check every rental or collection item when it arrives.

Tips

  • Count every place setting separately: dinner plates, dessert plates, forks, knives, wine glasses, water glasses and champagne glasses should match the confirmed guest count, with roughly 5–10% extra where possible.
  • Plan serving equipment as carefully as the food. For each buffet section, allow a serving platter or bowl and at least one pair of serving tongs, then check that the dessert and coffee tables have their own pieces.
  • Order or collect flowers, the cake and chilled drinks on different time slots if possible. Flowers and cake should arrive close to setup, while drinks need several hours to cool before guests arrive.
  • Do not leave the visual details until the wedding morning. Check table runners, chair covers, satin sashes, vases, artificial flowers and table numbers at least 24 hours before setup.
  • Keep ceremony and reception supplies separate in labelled boxes. Ceremony chairs, the carpet and backdrop items are easy to overlook when the team is busy arranging dining tables and the dance floor.

Frequently asked questions

How many glasses do I need for a glamour wedding?
Start with one water glass and one wine glass per guest, plus champagne glasses for the toast. Add at least 10% extra, and more if glasses will not be washed during the reception.
When should I buy or collect wedding drinks?
Buy non-perishable drinks and mixers at least 3–7 days before the wedding. Collect or chill the drinks that need refrigeration no later than the day before, so they are cold before guests arrive.
How many wedding place settings should I order?
Order one complete place setting per confirmed guest, including dinner and dessert plates, dinner forks and knives, and the planned glasses. Add 5–10% extra for breakages, unexpected guests or missing pieces.
When should wedding flowers and the cake be picked up?
Collect the cake and flowers on the wedding day as close to setup or service as practical. Aim for the cake within 2–4 hours of serving and flowers within 4–8 hours of the ceremony, unless the supplier gives different storage instructions.
