What to Bring for an E-Bike Tour

An e-bike tour needs more than bikes and a route map. Plan drinks and simple food for the full distance, plus supplies for registration, navigation, minor repairs and changing weather. A charging plan matters too: check whether riders can recharge at the start, rest stop or finish before the day begins. Use this shopping list alongside your participant numbers so you buy enough without carrying unnecessary weight.

Tips

  • Allow around 500–750 ml of water per rider for each hour on the route, and add extra drinks for the rest stop. Fill coolers and water dispensers before participants arrive.
  • Pack at least one bike pump and one repair kit for every 10–15 riders. Carry spare inner tubes in common wheel sizes, because a puncture is harder to solve with tools alone.
  • Give each rider a clear route map or GPX file, and keep a printed participant list at registration. Bring route signs, traffic cones and reflective vests if the route includes busy crossings or detours.
  • Check charging points several days ahead and bring extension cords and power strips only where the site permits them. Avoid relying on one socket: an e-bike group can quickly exceed the available capacity.
  • Prepare one first aid kit and thermal blankets at the start, then take a second kit on the route if the group is large or the ride is remote. Keep emergency contacts with the participant list, not only on one organiser’s phone.

Frequently asked questions

How much water do I need for an e-bike tour?
Plan 500–750 ml per rider per hour, depending on temperature and effort. For a three-hour ride, that means roughly 1.5–2.25 litres per person, with additional water available at the rest stop.
What bike repair supplies should I take on an e-bike tour?
Take at least one pump and one repair kit per 10–15 riders, plus spare inner tubes, tyre levers and basic tools. Check wheel and valve types before shopping, ideally at least one week in advance.
How many first aid kits are needed for an e-bike tour?
Use one kit at the start and carry another on the route when the group is large or the route is difficult to access. Check both kits 1–2 days before departure and replace anything used or expired.
When should I check e-bike charging points?
Confirm charging points and power supply at least one week before the tour, then check again 1–2 days beforehand. Ask about socket availability, access times and whether riders need their own chargers.
