What you need for conflict management training

For a conflict management training session, the shopping list goes beyond coffee and printed handouts. Participants need a clear registration point, comfortable seating, working presentation equipment and supplies for practical exercises. Plan refreshments around the length of the session, and check the room before training day so missing cables, cups or serving equipment do not disrupt the start. Use this list alongside your preparation plan to buy and bring everything in one trip.

Tips

  • Allow two to three drinks per person for the first hour, then one drink per person for each additional hour. Include water as well as coffee and tea, and chill drinks before participants arrive.
  • Prepare one printed worksheet or case handout per participant, plus five extra copies for late registrations, damaged pages or last-minute attendees.
  • Test the laptop, projector, screen, speakers and microphone at least one day before the training. Pack extension cords and power strips even if the venue says equipment is available.
  • For a group of 20, provide at least 20 chairs and enough table space for writing. Add two spare chairs and check that tables leave clear sightlines to the presentation screen.
  • Set up the coffee point and reception table 30 minutes before registration. Put out cups, glasses, plates, cutlery and serving tools before food and drinks arrive so the opening check-in stays uncluttered.
