Comic Drawing Workshop Checklist: Plan It Step by Step
A comic drawing workshop needs more than paper and pencils. You need a clear programme, a confirmed teacher, enough work space, working presentation equipment and a smooth registration process. This checklist helps you arrange the workshop in the right order, from confirming the venue and collecting dietary requirements to setting out materials and opening the session. Use it to avoid common last-minute problems, such as missing name badges, too few sharpeners or extension cords that do not reach the projector.

Tips
- Confirm the teacher, supervisors and workshop programme before sending invitations. Participants need to know the session length, what they will make and whether they need to bring anything.
- Close registrations at least 3 days before the workshop if possible. Use the final participant list to prepare name badges, worksheets, seating and enough drawing materials.
- Prepare more than one pencil sharpener and eraser for every 10 participants. Shared tools disappear quickly once everyone starts drawing, especially during timed exercises.
- Test the laptop, projector, screen, presentation remote and power connections at least 1 hour before opening. Keep extension cords and power strips secured with painter's tape so they do not become a trip hazard.
- Set up the registration desk and coffee service before participants arrive. Put out name badges, drawing paper, sketchbooks and pencils first; coffee, tea and food can follow once the room is ready.
Frequently asked questions
- How early should I arrive for a comic drawing workshop?
- Arrive at least 90 minutes before the advertised start time. This gives you time to arrange tables and chairs, test the projector, set out materials and prepare the registration desk.
- How much drawing paper do I need per participant?
- Plan for at least 10 sheets of drawing paper per participant for exercises, drafts and mistakes. Add 10 to 20 percent extra so late registrations or longer exercises do not leave you short.
- When should I send reminders for a comic drawing workshop?
- Send the first reminder 5 to 7 days before the workshop, then a final message 24 hours before it starts. Include the arrival time, venue details, food information and anything participants should bring.
- How many supervisors are needed for a comic drawing workshop?
- For a small group of up to 15 participants, one teacher and one supervisor is usually workable. Add another supervisor for each additional 15 participants, especially when the workshop includes younger artists or several activity tables.
