Tree Market Shopping List

Use this shopping list to prepare a tree market that can handle deliveries, exhibitors and customer queues from the first hour. It covers practical equipment for stalls, cash and card payments, lighting, drinks, waste and tree reception. Check power access before buying cables or lights, and allow time to test the payment terminal and cash drawer. Items for serving coffee and drinks are included too, so you can buy and pack everything in one pass.

Tips

  • Plan lighting and power together: count every LED light string, work light, coffee machine and payment device before choosing extension cords and power strips. Test the full setup at least one day before the market.
  • Prepare for tree movement, not just display. Transport carts and roll containers should be available when deliveries arrive, with a clear route from the unloading point to the stalls.
  • Separate payment supplies from general equipment. Keep the cash drawer, coins, receipt printer, chargers and payment terminal together, then test card payments before opening.
  • Buy drink and serving supplies for the busiest period rather than the average moment. Set out thermos flasks, kettles, coffee machines, mugs and glasses before exhibitors and customers arrive.
  • Do not leave signs, waste bins or queue barriers until setup is underway. Put route signs and barriers in place before the first delivery, and position waste bins where visitors naturally stop.

Frequently asked questions

What do I need for a tree market?
You need stall and seating equipment, payment tools, lighting, power supplies, transport carts, waste bins, signs and drink-service items. The complete list also covers reception and delivery preparation, so check it at least 3–5 days before the market.
How many coffee cups do I need for a tree market?
Plan enough mugs for one full serving round plus about 20% extra, because used cups may not return immediately. For 50 visitors in a busy hour, prepare at least 60 mugs or an equivalent supply.
When should I test the payment terminal and cash register?
Test both at least one day before opening, using the actual power supply and receipt printer. Put cash and coins in the drawer on the morning of the market, after the equipment has passed its test.
How much lighting and power equipment does a tree market need?
Count one power connection for each separate group of lights, coffee equipment and payment devices, then add one spare extension cord and power strip. Check outlets and cable routes at least 24 hours before setup so problems can be fixed before exhibitors arrive.
