What to Bring for a Ski Training Session
A ski training session needs more than skis and poles. You also need correctly fitted helmets, protective gear, training equipment, participant check-in supplies and a practical setup for drinks and food. Plan equipment by group, not only by total attendance, so distribution and drills do not stall. Check reservations and weather conditions before shopping, and charge communication devices the day before.

Tips
- Prepare one complete ski, pole and helmet set for every participant, plus a small buffer if rentals or sizes are uncertain. Check equipment before registration opens rather than discovering missing items at the distribution point.
- Bring one training bib per group member and enough cones, slalom poles and practice hoops to mark several drills at once. This prevents one group from waiting while another finishes an exercise.
- Plan at least one thermos bottle or cup per participant for the session, and keep hot drinks in thermos flasks or coolers until the break. Set out reusable cups, plates and cutlery before participants arrive.
- Charge every walkie-talkie and the mobile phone overnight, then pack the charging cables and extension cords together. A megaphone is useful when several groups need the same safety instruction outdoors.
- Reserve tables and chairs for registration and catering, and provide coat racks or clothes racks for layers participants remove during warm-up. Keep the printed participant list and emergency contacts at the registration table.
Frequently asked questions
- How many ski sets do I need for ski training?
- Prepare one pair of alpine skis and one pair of ski poles for each registered participant. Add 1β2 spare sets when equipment sizes or rental availability are not fully confirmed.
- How many helmets and back protectors are needed?
- Use one correctly fitting ski helmet for every participant, and one back protector where your training requirements call for it. Check sizes at least 24 hours before the session so replacements can be arranged.
- What should I buy for ski training drills?
- For each training group, plan a set of cones and several slalom poles, with practice hoops, resistance bands and training mats added for technique and warm-up work. The exact quantity depends on group size, but each group should be able to practise without sharing one obstacle set.
- When should I prepare drinks and catering for ski training?
- Buy shelf-stable items and check coolers 1β2 days before the session. Set up thermos flasks, reusable cups, plates, cutlery and serving equipment before participant check-in, so the break does not become a separate setup task.
