Tips

Plan one pétanque set for every active court, plus one spare set if your tournament has more than four courts. Check that each set includes enough boules and a target ball before event day.
Allow at least one table for registration and one separate catering table. Keep name lists, pens, match cards and markers at the registration table so teams can check in without blocking food service.
For an outdoor tournament, provide shade with partytents and bring lighting for every playing or serving area that may be used after dark. Test extension cables and outdoor lamps before players arrive.
Chill drinks several hours in advance and use cool boxes where there is no nearby refrigerator. Set out cups, plates, cutlery, serving platters and tongs together so food can be served without opening cupboards during matches.
Bring enough seating for breaks, not only for the players currently waiting to play. Bierbanken are useful for larger groups, while extra tables are needed for scoreboards, paperwork and food.
