Peace Bike Ride Shopping List
A peace bike ride needs more than bicycles and a published route. This shopping list covers the practical supplies for registration, a safe starting point, refreshments and a well-organised finish. Plan drinks and snacks by participant count, then add equipment for route communication, weather protection and basic bike support. Reusable cups, coolers, tables, signs and power banks are easy to overlook until setup day, when there is little time to find them.

Tips
- Plan at least 750 ml of water per rider for the ride, plus extra for the start and finish. Use water jugs or drink dispensers and keep additional drinks chilled in coolers.
- For a one-hour gathering, allow two to three drinks per person and two snack portions per person. Prepare serving platters, trays with lids and bread baskets before participants arrive.
- Place one bicycle rack for roughly every five bikes at the starting location. Add waste bins near the registration and refreshment tables so cups and plates do not end up along the route.
- Pack communication equipment the day before: test the portable speaker, microphone, microphone stand, megaphone, extension cords and power strips. Charge power banks overnight in case the starting location has too few outlets.
- Bring at least two bike pumps for a group of 20 to 30 riders and inspect them before departure. Keep route signs, participant numbers and spare marking materials together so hazardous spots can be marked quickly.
Frequently asked questions
- How much water do I need for a peace bike ride?
- Allow about 750 ml per rider for the ride, then add another 250 to 500 ml per person at the start or finish. For 30 riders, that is approximately 22.5 to 37.5 litres in total.
- How many snacks should I buy for a peace bike ride?
- Buy two snack portions per participant for a ride and gathering lasting around two to three hours. For 40 participants, plan for about 80 portions, with extra food if children or a longer stop are expected.
- What equipment do I need at the starting location?
- For 20 to 30 riders, prepare at least two foldable tables, one or two party tents, 30 reusable cups, waste bins, bicycle racks and basic sound equipment. Add chairs if registration or briefings will take longer than 30 minutes.
- When should I buy and prepare the supplies?
- Buy non-perishable supplies and check the equipment at least three days before the ride. Chill drinks and prepare snacks the day before, then set up tables, signs and sound equipment at least 60 minutes before participants arrive.
