Movement Day shopping list

A Movement Day needs more than sports equipment. You also need enough tables, serving items, cups, chilled drinks and practical supplies for changing activities and meal breaks. Use the plan’s equipment list as your starting point, then match quantities to your confirmed participant list. Check clothing, shoes, dietary requirements and medical considerations before shopping, because missing information often causes last-minute purchases or unsuitable catering.

Tips

  • Count one yoga mat, practice space or activity station per participant where the programme requires everyone to work at once. For shared equipment such as hoops, soft balls and gym balls, confirm the maximum group size for each activity before deciding quantities.
  • Plan at least two drinking glasses or cups per participant for a half-day programme, plus extra cups for coffee and tea. Chill drinks before the event and keep a separate supply available during outdoor activities.
  • Allow one complete place settingβ€”plate, cutlery set and water glassβ€”per person, with at least 10% extra for replacements and volunteers. Add serving platters and serving tongs before the catering delivery arrives.
  • Prepare food quantities from the final registration list, including dietary requirements collected in advance. Check the grocery list again 24 hours before Movement Day so missing coffee, tea, milk or snacks can still be bought.
  • Keep first aid supplies, non-slip mats and weather-dependent items ready before participants arrive. Pack bib numbers, name badges and activity materials together, and check that sports clothing and suitable shoes have been confirmed.
