What you need for math skills training

Use this shopping list to prepare a practical math skills training session from registration through the final exercise. Plan materials for every participant, plus a small buffer for late registrations or damaged sheets. The core supplies include worksheets, test booklets, calculators, writing materials, math manipulatives, and presentation equipment. Refreshments and refrigerated products also need ordering early, especially when participants have dietary requirements.

Tips

  • Prepare one work folder per participant and add the calculation worksheets, test booklet, answer sheets, pencils, pens, and erasers before the training day. Print 5–10% extra copies for mistakes or unexpected attendees.
  • Provide one calculator per participant if the exercises require individual calculation. For group activities, prepare at least one set of calculation cards, dice, measuring tapes, rulers, and set squares for each small group.
  • Test the laptop, projector, projection screen, HDMI cable, presentation remote, extension cords, and power strips at least one day before the session. Bring a spare HDMI cable if the room setup is unfamiliar.
  • Prepare name badges and keep the attendance list at the registration desk. Set out markers, flip chart paper, flipchart markers, and sticky notes before participants arrive so exercises can start without unpacking supplies.
  • Order coffee, tea, water, and refrigerated products no later than the day before training. Match the quantity to the confirmed registrations and check collected dietary requirements before buying snacks or other food.

Frequently asked questions

What materials do I need for math skills training?
For each participant, plan a work folder, calculation worksheets, a test booklet, answer sheets, writing materials, and an eraser. Add calculators and group math materials such as dice, rulers, measuring tapes, set squares, and calculation cards according to the exercises.
How many copies of the math worksheets should I print?
Print one complete set per confirmed participant, plus 5–10% extra copies. For 20 participants, that means 21–22 sets, including a small buffer for late registrations or damaged pages.
How many calculators are needed for a math training session?
Provide one calculator per participant when the exercises involve individual calculations. If calculators are shared during group work, prepare at least one for every two to three participants and check them before the session.
When should I buy refreshments for math skills training?
Buy shelf-stable drinks and snacks at least one day before the training. Purchase refrigerated products on the day before or the morning of the session, after checking the final registration count and dietary requirements.
