Magic workshop shopping list
Use this list to prepare the materials, furniture, serving items and equipment for a hands-on magic workshop. Plan one complete practice set per participant or table, depending on how the activities are taught. Cards, coins, ropes, balls, cups and wands are easy to overlook when you focus on booking the magician. Also allow time for printing worksheets, chilling drinks and distributing supplies before guests arrive.

Tips
- Prepare one worksheet, name sticker and pen for every registered participant, plus at least 10% extra for late additions or damaged copies.
- For practical demonstrations, count the magic supplies by activity: provide enough card decks, coin sets, rope sets, rubber balls, cups and wands for each table to practise without waiting.
- Buy or bring tableware for the full group, including drinking glasses, coffee cups, plates and cutlery, then add 10% extra so a dropped or dirty item does not stop the break.
- Check the technical setup at least 24 hours before the workshop: test the wireless microphone, Bluetooth speaker and projector, and pack extension cords and power strips.
- Chill drinks several hours before opening and place coolers near the break area. Keep serving platters, ladles and other buffet items together so catering can be set up quickly.
Frequently asked questions
- What supplies do I need for a magic workshop?
- You need practice materials such as playing cards, magic coins, rope sets, rubber balls, cups, wands, close-up mats and magic cases. Add worksheets, name stickers and pens for every participant, with 10% extra.
- How many magic sets should I buy for each participant?
- Use one complete practice set per participant for activities where everyone works at once. If the magician teaches table by table, prepare at least one set for every 2 to 4 participants at each table.
- When should I print the worksheets and badges?
- Print them 2 to 3 days before the workshop, after the participant list is final. Prepare 10% extra copies and name stickers for last-minute registrations or replacements.
- How early should I prepare drinks and catering?
- Shop for groceries and check dietary requirements at least 2 days beforehand. Chill drinks 3 to 4 hours before guests arrive, and set out the buffet table and serving items before the reception opens.
