What you need for job application training
Use this shopping list to prepare a practical job application training session, from registration and worksheets to interview role-play and presentations. Plan supplies per participant rather than buying a fixed amount: each person needs writing materials, handouts and a folder. Check the room and equipment early, especially HDMI connections, power access and presentation space. Catering also needs a simple headcount plus a small buffer for late confirmations.

Tips
- Prepare one document folder, notepad and ballpoint pen for every participant, then add 10% extra for damaged or forgotten supplies. Print worksheets for each attendee and keep at least five spare copies.
- For name badges, buy one holder per confirmed participant and prepare several blanks for same-day changes. Keep the attendance list, badges and registration materials together at the entrance.
- Check the laptop, projector, projection screen, HDMI cable, wireless presenter and timer at least one day before the training. Bring an extension reel and power strip if the room layout puts tables more than a few metres from the socket.
- For group exercises, allow one flipchart pad and a set of markers for each working group, plus spare whiteboard markers and sticky notes. Paper clips, a stapler and staples are useful when worksheets or interview notes need assembling during the session.
- Order coffee cups, drinking glasses, plates and cutlery for the confirmed number of participants, trainers and organisers, then add 10% where possible. Prepare thermos flasks before the first break so drinks are available without interrupting the presentation.
Frequently asked questions
- What stationery do I need for job application training?
- Prepare one notepad and one ballpoint pen per participant, plus 10% extra. Add printed worksheets, document folders, sticky notes, markers, paper clips, a stapler and staples for exercises and handouts.
- How many worksheets should I print for a job application workshop?
- Print one complete set for every confirmed participant, trainer and facilitator. Add at least five spare sets, or 10% extra for larger groups, so late registrations and replacement copies are covered.
- What presentation equipment is needed for interview training?
- Use a laptop, projector, projection screen, HDMI cable, wireless presenter and timer. Test every connection at least one day before the session and bring an extension reel and power strip as backup.
- How much catering should I buy for job application training?
- Base catering on the final participant count, trainers and organisers, then add around 10% for unexpected attendees. Provide enough cups, glasses, plates and cutlery for the full group and have coffee ready before the first break.
