What you need for an interior market

Use this shopping list to prepare an interior market with seller stalls, product displays, customer areas and a clear route through the venue. Plan furniture for each participant, plus extra tables for payments, refreshments and information. Payment equipment, signs, lighting and cable protection are easy to overlook and often needed before the doors open. Check quantities against your booth layout and confirm deliveries before shopping or collecting rented items.

Tips

  • Allow one market stall or display area per participant, then add at least one spare table for registration, information or overflow items. Keep storage boxes available so sellers can hide packaging and personal belongings.
  • Prepare one cash machine or card payment setup for each sales point, with a cash box as backup. Test every terminal, cash register, extension cord and power strip before the market opens.
  • Use route signs and directional signs at every decision point, including the entrance, toilets, payment area and exit. Print price tags, welcome signs and notices several days before the event so missing signs can still be replaced.
  • Plan lighting separately from general room lighting: use LED spotlights for displays and LED string lights or battery lanterns for darker corners. Cover cables with cable mats and keep a ladder and tool case available for setup adjustments.
  • For refreshments, calculate two to three drinks per person for the first hour and prepare snacks before sellers arrive. Chill drinks in advance, and confirm catering delivery times at least 24 hours before opening.

Frequently asked questions

How many tables do I need for an interior market?
Start with one table or stall per participant, then add at least two shared tables for registration, information and refreshments. Keep one or two spare foldable tables available for late changes or extra display space.
How much lighting do I need for an interior market?
Plan at least one LED spotlight or suitable light source for each darker display area, plus battery lanterns for corners and emergency use. Test all lighting and power connections at least one day before opening.
When should I prepare signs and payment equipment?
