Health Day shopping list
Use this shopping list to prepare a Health Day with food, movement sessions, workshops and practical activity stations. Plan refreshments around the number of registered participants, then add serving supplies, chilled storage and cleaning materials that are easy to overlook. The plan also covers equipment such as yoga mats, cones, resistance bands and stopwatches, so each activity can start without last-minute borrowing. Check dietary requirements before buying ingredients and keep chilled products refrigerated until serving.

Tips
- Plan food and drinks from the registration numbers, then add about 10% extra for unexpected attendees or larger portions. Keep a separate count for dietary requirements instead of relying on memory.
- Buy chilled ingredients no earlier than 1β2 days before the event and leave enough refrigerator space for prepared soup, dips, dressings and washed produce. Label special-diet items before they reach the buffet.
- Match equipment to each activity station before shopping: allow one yoga mat per participant in a mat-based session, and count cones, hoops, balls or resistance bands for every group using the station.
- Pack a small technical kit with spare batteries, extension cords and power strips. Test the laptop, projector, speakers, microphone, timer and digital scale at least one day before Health Day.
- Bring more serving and waste capacity than you expect to need: one accessible waste bin per busy food or activity area makes clearing up faster. Include cutting boards and other kitchen tools before buying ingredients, not after.
Frequently asked questions
- What food should I buy for a Health Day?
- Buy ingredients for the planned soup, dips, dressings and recipe-card activities, plus washed fruit and vegetables for snacks. Base quantities on the number registered and add roughly 10% extra; check dietary requirements before placing the order.
- How much water and other drinks do I need for a Health Day?
- Allow around 1 litre of drinking water per participant for a half-day programme, and more if activities are strenuous or held in warm conditions. Provide extra cups or reusable bottles and keep a reserve available at the busiest activity area.
- How many yoga mats and sports items do I need?
- For a session where everyone participates at once, provide one yoga mat or gym mat per person, then count shared items such as balls, hoops, cones and skipping ropes by station. Prepare at least one spare mat and a few spare small items for damaged or missing equipment.
- When should I buy supplies for a Health Day?
- Buy shelf-stable food, printed materials and non-perishable equipment several days in advance. Shop for fresh produce and chilled ingredients 1β2 days before the event, and check batteries and technical equipment no later than the day before.
