Tips
- Plan around 2–3 drinks per person for the first hour, then add about 1 drink per person for each additional hour. Include water in jugs as well as other drinks, and chill them several hours before guests arrive.
- Allow one plate, bowl, glass and cutlery set per guest, plus at least 10% extra for breakages, seconds and items left at team tables. Keep coffee cups separate so they are ready for hot drinks later.
- Prepare one serving platter or bowl for each main snack area and provide serving tongs or spoons for every dish. Put the buffet table away from the quiz tables to prevent queues and spills during a round.
- Test the laptop, projector, screen, speakers, microphone and HDMI cable at least 24 hours beforehand. Bring power strips and extension cords long enough to keep cables away from walking routes.
- Buy or gather the easy-to-forget kitchen items before shopping for snacks: bottle openers, a corkscrew, chopping boards, a chef’s knife, coolers and ice. Print quiz materials after the final question check so no outdated answers reach the teams.
