Tips
- Allow two to three beers per person for the first hour, then roughly one drink per person per additional hour. Add water as well, using at least one water glass per guest if you are serving drinks at tables.
- Prepare one quiz sheet and one response form per team for every round, plus at least 10% extra copies. Keep spare pens, scissors and a clear place for completed forms so answers do not get mixed up.
- Check the cooling capacity before the beer arrives. Use coolers or ice buckets early enough to chill the first drinks, and keep bottle openers at both the bar and the team tables.
- Test the laptop, projector, screen, speakers and microphone together at least one hour before guests arrive. Put extension cords and power strips where they cannot become a trip hazard.
- Buy or prepare snacks that can be portioned onto plates and serving platters before the quiz starts. Set out bowls, serving utensils and waste bins so guests do not need to leave the room during a round.
Frequently asked questions
- How much beer do I need for a beer quiz?
- Plan for two to three beers per person during the first hour, then about one additional drink per person for each extra hour. Add a buffer of around 10% if attendance is uncertain, and provide water throughout.
- How many quiz sheets and answer forms should I print?
- Print one quiz sheet and one answer form per team for each round, plus at least 10% extra. For 10 teams and 5 rounds, that means at least 55 copies of each type of form.
- When should I chill the beer for a beer quiz?
- Move the beer into coolers or ice buckets several hours before guests arrive, depending on the starting temperature and available ice. Check the delivery as soon as it arrives so warm drinks do not go unnoticed until setup.
- What equipment do I need for a beer quiz?
- For a projected quiz, prepare a laptop, projector, projection screen, speakers and microphone, plus extension cords and power strips. Test the complete setup at least one hour before the doors open and keep a backup way to read the questions aloud.
