DVD market checklist: what to arrange and when

A DVD market needs more than tables and boxes of discs. You have to coordinate sellers, assign spaces, prepare prices and payment rules, and make it easy for visitors to find and test items. This checklist puts the work in a practical order, from booking the venue and collecting registrations to connecting power and opening the cash registers. It also highlights details that are often left until the last minute, such as stall numbers, extension cords and change for the register.

Tips

  • Set the venue, sales terms and seller registration deadline before inviting participants. Send confirmations only after you have assigned every seller a sales table and collected dietary requirements.
  • Prepare the DVD inventory and price stickers several days before the market. Give each stall a number and keep spare pens, calculators and cardboard boxes available for sorting stock.
  • Test every DVD player, screen, power strip and extension cord before setup day. Use separate test stations so sellers can check discs without blocking the sales tables.
  • Prepare the cash register rules in writing and arrange cash for the register before doors open. Keep the cash receipt book, calculators and payment materials together at each register.
  • Allow at least two hours for setup when you need to place tables, chairs, stall numbers, route signs, decorations and DVD test stations. Tape down cable runs and check the power supply before visitors arrive.

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance should I organise a DVD market?
Book the venue and define the sales terms at least 6 to 8 weeks before the market. Open seller registration soon afterwards, so you have time to assign tables, send confirmations and publish visitor information.
How many tables do I need for a DVD market?
Plan at least one assigned sales table per participating seller, then add space for DVD test stations, cash registers and visitor circulation. Finalise the layout 1 to 2 weeks before the event, once registrations have closed.
When should I prepare DVD prices and stall numbers?
Prepare the inventory, price stickers and stall numbers at least 3 days before opening. This leaves time to correct missing prices, reorganise boxes and print replacement signs instead of doing it during setup.
How long does it take to set up a DVD market?
Allow around 2 hours for a small market with tables, chairs, test stations and payment points. Add extra time if you need to install cable reels, several screens or a larger power supply.
