What you need for a duathlon

Tips

Order bib numbers, race bib straps, timing chips and chip wristbands as soon as registration closes, then add a small spare set for damaged or missing items.
Plan course equipment by location, not just by total count: directional signs, traffic cones and barriers must cover every turn, crossing and restricted section before the course inspection.
Keep at least one spare bike pump and one bike tool kit at the transition area. A basic repair problem can otherwise delay a participant or distract a volunteer from course duties.
Check the power plan several days before race day. Count extension cords, power strips, speakers, microphones and rechargeable work lights together, and test the PA system at the start and finish locations.
Separate finish-line supplies from awards supplies. Keep medals, prize cups, winner ribbons and the finish ribbon packed in labelled boxes so volunteers can set up without opening every equipment case.
