What you need for a cycling quiz

A cycling quiz needs more than questions and a screen. Plan the items for team registration, answer sheets, scoring, drinks, snacks and the technical setup. For a typical quiz, allow one pen per participant plus spares, one answer form per round and enough glasses, plates and cutlery for everyone. Drinks should be chilled before guests arrive, while coffee, tea and hot-water equipment need a separate serving point. Use this list to shop and pack without leaving the small essentials until setup time.

Tips

  • Buy at least one pen per participant and add 10–15% extra for lost or dry pens. Keep the spare pens at the reception desk rather than on the quiz tables.
  • Prepare one answer form for every team for each round, plus 10% extra. Bring separate scoreboards or scoring sheets so completed answers do not get mixed up.
  • Allow two to three drinks per person for the first hour, then about one drink per hour after that. Chill the drinks in coolers before opening the venue and keep reserve bottles or cans cold.
  • Plan one plate, one cutlery set and one reusable glass per participant, plus 10% spare tableware. If coffee and tea are served, add one cup and one coffee spoon per expected drinker.
  • Check the presentation connection before the quiz starts and pack both an HDMI cable and the correct adapter. Bring power strips and extension cords, and test the microphone and speakers with the laptop and projector.

Plan drinks, snacks, plates, cutlery, reusable glasses, coffee and tea supplies, answer forms, pens, team badges and scoring materials. You will also need presentation equipment such as a laptop, projector, screen, HDMI connection, power strips and extension cords.
How many pens do I need for a cycling quiz?
Provide one pen per participant and bring 10–15% extra. For 40 participants, pack at least 44–46 working pens so teams can continue if a pen is lost or stops writing.
How many answer sheets are needed for a cycling quiz?
Prepare one answer form per team for every quiz round, then add 10% spare forms. For 8 teams playing 5 rounds, pack at least 44 forms.
