Tips

  • Plan one life jacket for every person who may enter a boat or life boat, plus a small reserve. Confirm the required sizes with the rowing club before ordering.
  • Prepare spare paddles before teams arrive. A damaged paddle can stop a race, so keep the spares at the launch or equipment area rather than in storage.
  • Order bib numbers and competition bibs at least 7 days before the regatta if names or team assignments must be printed. Keep extra numbers for late changes.
  • Allow one registration desk, one judges’ table and separate buffet tables. Set up tablecloths, chairs and beer tables before participants arrive so registration does not compete with catering setup.
  • Check the power plan at least 3 days ahead. Count every coffee machine, kettle, food warmer, speaker and microphone, then bring enough extension cords and power strips without overloading one outlet.

Frequently asked questions

What safety equipment do I need for a company rowing regatta?
Plan rowing boats, life boats, life jackets, buoys, a buoy line and clear start and finish flags. Check the final quantities with the rowing club and safety team at least 7 days before the event.
How many bib numbers should I order for a rowing regatta?
Order one bib number for every registered participant or boat position, plus at least 10% extra. Finalise the participant list 3 to 5 days before race day so the printed numbers match the starting lineup.
What catering equipment is needed for a company rowing regatta?
For food and drinks, plan coolers, food warmers, buffet tables, coffee machines, kettles and thermos flasks. Confirm the catering quantities and equipment no later than 7 days before the regatta, especially if the venue has limited power.
When should I arrange boats and life boats for a company rowing regatta?
Reserve the rowing boats and life boats as soon as the date and rowing club are confirmed, preferably several weeks before race day. Recheck the boat count, crew allocation and safety cover 3 to 5 days before the event.
