Christmas Market Shopping List
A Christmas market with live demonstrations needs more than stalls and decorations. You will need equipment for hot drinks, food preparation, serving, payments, lighting and power, plus practical items for changing weather. Use the quantities in your event plan as a starting point, then adjust them for your visitor count and demonstration schedule. Check borrowed equipment at least one week before the market so missing items can still be hired or bought.

Tips
- Plan two to three hot drinks per visitor during the first hour, then add extra cups, tea glasses and drinking glasses for later arrivals. Keep a separate supply for demonstrators and volunteers.
- Allow one tablecloth per market stall and keep at least two spare cloths for spills, wet weather or late stall changes. Store clean cloths in crates rather than leaving them exposed overnight.
- Check every demonstration against its equipment list seven days ahead. In particular, test the induction cooktop, kettle, coffee maker, cooking pot and extension cords together at the actual site.
- Provide one payment terminal and cash drawer for each payment point, plus a power strip and extension cord where required. Charge terminals fully the night before and bring a backup charging option if the market runs for more than four hours.
- Prepare a covered drinks and serving area before opening. A party tent, cool box, insulated carafe and thermos help protect food and hot drinks when temperatures drop or rain starts during the market.
Frequently asked questions
- What should I buy for a Christmas market with cooking demonstrations?
- Plan for a kettle, coffee maker, insulated carafe, induction cooktop, cooking pot, baking tray and the required preparation and serving utensils. Check the demonstration schedule at least 7 days before shopping so you can match equipment and ingredients to each session.
- How many cups and glasses do I need for a Christmas market?
- Start with 2 to 3 drink servings per expected visitor during the first hour, then add a 10% reserve for breakage, extra guests and volunteers. Include coffee cups, tea glasses, drinking glasses and cups according to the drinks you will serve.
- How early should I arrange Christmas market stalls and tables?
- Confirm stall numbers, table sizes and the floor plan at least 2 weeks before the event. Check deliveries and storage crates again 2 to 3 days beforehand, especially if the market is outdoors.
- What power equipment is needed for an outdoor Christmas market?
- List every powered item, including lights, the portable speaker, coffee maker and induction cooktop, then check the available outlets before the event. Bring suitable extension cords and power strips, and test the complete setup at least 1 week in advance.
