What to Buy for a Car Quiz
A car quiz needs more than questions and a prize table. You will need printed quiz materials for every team, reliable pens, presentation equipment and enough tableware for drinks and food. Plan the quantities around your expected attendance: one answer form and quiz booklet per team, plus spares, and at least one pen per player. Drinks, coffee supplies and serving equipment are easy to overlook, especially when the venue has limited kitchen equipment.

Tips
- Prepare one quiz booklet, answer form and score sheet for each team, then add at least 10% spare copies. For 10 teams, pack 11 of each paper item.
- Buy or collect one working pen per player and keep at least 10 spare pens at the quiz table. Pens disappearing between rounds are a common cause of delays.
- Allow two to three drinks per person for the first hour, then one drink per person per hour. Chill them in coolers before opening the hall and keep extra drinks separate from the serving table.
- Check the venueβs equipment before shopping for technical items. You need a laptop, projector, projection screen, speaker, microphone, HDMI cable, USB stick, extension cords and power strips if they are not already available.
- Count tableware by guest rather than by table: one glass, coffee cup, plate and cutlery set per person, plus 10% extra. Bring serving platters, a coffee maker, kettles, thermos flasks and soup ladles if the venue does not provide them.
Frequently asked questions
- How many quiz sheets do I need for a car quiz?
- Prepare one quiz booklet, answer form and score sheet per team, not per guest. Add at least 10% spare copies; for 12 teams, take 14 of each paper item so damaged or missing sheets do not stop a round.
- How many pens should I buy for a car quiz?
- Allow one working pen per player and bring at least 10 spare pens. For 60 players, pack 60 pens for use plus 10 spares, kept at the quiz table.
- How many drinks do I need for a car quiz?
- Plan two to three drinks per person for the first hour, followed by one drink per person per hour. For a three-hour quiz with 50 guests, that means roughly 200 to 250 drinks, adjusted for coffee, water and non-drinkers.
- When should I buy and chill drinks for a car quiz?
- Buy non-perishable drinks and paper supplies at least 2 to 3 days before the quiz. Chill drinks on the day, ideally 3 to 4 hours before guests arrive, using coolers with enough space for quick access.
