Brewery tour shopping list

A brewery tour needs more than a list of breweries and a way to get there. Pack water, snacks, tasting materials and cooling equipment so the group stays comfortable between stops. This checklist also covers practical items that are easy to forget, such as charging cables, route maps, participant badges and emergency supplies. Use the quantities at each brewery and the number of participants to decide how much food, ice and tableware to bring.

Tips

  • Plan at least 500 ml of water per participant for the tour, plus extra water for anyone walking between breweries. Bring separate water glasses or clearly marked drinking glasses so they do not get mixed up with sample glasses.
  • Allow one sandwich or a substantial snack per participant, with extra portions for longer tours. Confirm dietary requirements before shopping and keep food in sealed containers or a cooler bag.
  • Charge every mobile phone and power bank the evening before, and pack one charging cable for each phone type used by the group. A full power bank is more useful than relying on a brewery outlet during a scheduled stop.
  • Pack route maps, participant badges and tasting note cards in a waterproof folder or container. Print one route map for every two participants and keep one spare copy with the organiser.
  • Use coolers and ice packs for sandwiches, snacks and any drinks that must stay cold. Chill the drinks before departure; ice packs alone may not cool warm bottles quickly enough during a full-day tour.

Frequently asked questions

What should I bring to a brewery tour?
Bring water, sandwiches or snacks, a mobile phone, a power bank and comfortable route information. For an organised group, also pack sample glasses, tasting note cards, participant badges, coolers and a first aid kit.
How much food and water do I need for a brewery tour?
Plan at least 500 ml of water and one substantial sandwich or snack per participant. Add extra portions when the tour lasts more than 4 hours or when there are long walking sections between breweries.
How many glasses do I need for a brewery tour?
Pack at least one sample glass per participant, plus 10% extra for breakage or loss. Bring separate water glasses when the group will be tasting several beers at each stop.
When should I prepare the brewery tour shopping?
Check the final participant count and dietary requirements 3 to 5 days before the tour, then shop for fresh food and ice no earlier than the day before. Charge phones and power banks and pack the coolers the evening before departure.
