What to buy for a billiards tournament
A billiards tournament needs more than tables, cues and balls. Plan supplies for registration, match scoring, food, drinks, prizes and the time between rounds. For a full tournament day, allow at least one drinking glass per participant, plus 10β15% extra, and keep drinks cold before guests arrive. Check the roomβs equipment first so you do not buy or transport items it already provides.

Tips
- Prepare one registration pack for every 20β30 players: bring the participant list, printed match forms, a laptop, a printer and a registration desk. Pack spare paper, pens and extension cords because these are easy to overlook.
- Count one complete ball set, triangle, cue and chalk supply for each table in use. Add at least one spare cue and one spare chalk per four tables, and bring brushes to clear cloth before the first matches.
- Plan two to three drinks per person for the first hour, then one drink per person for each additional hour. Use coolers or ice tubs, and provide drinking glasses rather than relying only on bottles or cans.
- For catering, order one main portion per registered player and keep 10% extra for late additions or larger appetites. Set out plates, cutlery, serving platters and tablecloths before the first match so food service does not interrupt the schedule.
- Buy or collect prizes at least 7 days before the tournament. Prepare one prize or cup for each planned winning category, and keep the prize money, cups and tournament banner together at the registration desk.
