What to Buy for a Bike Tasting Tour
A bike tasting tour needs more than tasting samples and bicycles. You will be moving food, drinks and serving supplies between stops, while keeping everything cool and the route easy to follow. Use this shopping list to prepare portions, drinks, signs and basic bike support before the day begins. Plan quantities from your confirmed participant list, then add a small buffer for spills, extra tastings and last-minute registrations.

Tips
- Plan tasting portions per stop before shopping. For a group of 20, prepare at least 22 portions of each sample so a damaged portion or late arrival does not leave someone without a tasting.
- Allow two to three drinks per person for the first hour, then one drink per person per additional hour. Bring extra reusable cups and clearly separate drinking water from tasting drinks.
- Keep chilled products in coolers with ice packs until each stop. Pack each location separately so volunteers can unload one complete set of samples, plates, cutlery and serving tools instead of searching through every cooler.
- Pack route support before the food. For every riding group, check that you have directional signs, marker poles, reflective vests, a pump, a repair kit and spare inner tubes; add bungee cords to secure loose equipment.
- Do not leave power and washing-up supplies until the last shopping run. Count extension cords, power strips, kettles, thermos flasks and washing-up tubs before loading, especially when a tasting stop has no convenient outlet or sink.
Frequently asked questions
- How much food do I need for a bike tasting tour?
- Prepare one tasting portion per participant at every stop, plus at least 10% extra. For 20 participants and four stops, that means 88 portions in total rather than exactly 80.
- How many drinks should I buy for a bike tasting tour?
- Allow two to three drinks per person for the first hour and one drink per person for each additional hour. For a three-hour tour with 20 people, plan for roughly 80 to 100 drinks, including water.
- What bike repair supplies should I bring on a tasting tour?
- Bring at least one bike pump, one repair kit and two spare inner tubes per riding group. Check them no later than the day before and make sure the tubes match the bikes being used.
- When should I buy and pack the tasting food?
- Buy shelf-stable products up to two days beforehand and chilled or cut products on the day itself whenever possible. Pack the coolers and stop-specific portions 1 to 2 hours before departure so food stays cold without delaying setup.
