What you need for a bike quiz ride
A bike quiz ride needs more than quiz sheets and bicycles. You need supplies for registration, route marking, rest stops, food service, scoring and basic repairs. Plan quantities around your participant count, then add a small reserve for lost pencils, punctures and extra drinks. Check power access at the start location before bringing a speaker, microphone, kettles or thermos flasks. Buy or gather disposable replacements only if reusable tableware cannot cover the full group.

Tips
- Prepare one quiz form and route map per participant, plus at least 10% extra. Keep spare pens, scissors and answer sheets at the registration desk so missing materials do not delay the start.
- For the first hour, allow two to three drinks per person, then add water for the route and rest stops. Use coolers for cold drinks and thermos flasks for coffee or tea; confirm dietary requirements before ordering food.
- Mark every junction with directional signs or cones, and give each volunteer a reflective vest. Put the signs out shortly before the ride and collect them immediately afterward so they are not left on the route.
- Keep at least one bike pump, one repair kit and spare inner tubes in the support setup. Check common tyre sizes during registration, because a tube that does not fit is no practical backup.
- Set up registration, bicycle parking, tables and chairs before participants arrive. Bring 10% more cups, plates and cutlery than your confirmed attendance, and place waste bins beside the food and finish areas.
Frequently asked questions
- How many quiz sheets and maps do I need for a bike quiz ride?
- Prepare one quiz form and one route map for every confirmed participant, then print at least 10% extra. For 40 riders, that means 44 copies of each item.
- How much food and drink should I buy for a bike quiz ride?
- Plan two to three drinks per person for the first hour, plus water for rest stops and the return. Buy food for the confirmed number of participants and add about 10% extra once dietary requirements are known.
- What bike repair supplies should I take on a quiz ride?
- Take at least one pump, one repair kit and spare inner tubes that match the bicycles in the group. For larger rides, assign one repair setup to each support vehicle or volunteer team.
- When should I put out the route signs and cones?
- Place signs and cones shortly before riders start, after the route has been checked. Allow at least 30 minutes for setup, and collect everything immediately after the final rider has passed.
