What you need for a wakeboard show
A wakeboard show needs more than boards and ropes. Youβll need safety equipment for every rider, a clear setup for registration and spectators, and enough power, sound and lighting to keep the programme running. Plan drinks and catering separately from rider supplies, because cups, serving equipment and cooling space are easy to underestimate. Use this list to check what must be bought, hired or brought to the waterfront before show day.

Tips
- Prepare one helmet, impact vest and wetsuit for each participating rider, then add at least two spare sets for changing sizes or damaged gear.
- Bring one wakeboard rope and one suitable board for each active setup, plus spare fins and basic repair supplies so a small equipment problem does not stop the programme.
- For drinks, allow two to three servings per person during the first hour and chill them in coolers before guests arrive. Add extra reusable cups for staff, riders and replacements.
- Count seating and serving supplies from the guest list: provide one chair per seated guest, one plate and cutlery set per meal, and at least 10% extra tableware for spills or late arrivals.
- Check power needs before loading the sound system, mixer, coffee machines and lights. Take extension cords and power strips long enough to keep cables away from wet and public areas.
Frequently asked questions
- What safety equipment do I need for a wakeboard show?
- Provide one helmet and one impact vest for every rider, with at least two spare sets on site. Keep wetsuits and wakeboard ropes matched to the riders and equipment, and inspect everything before the first run.
- How many drinks should I buy for a wakeboard show?
- Plan on two to three drinks per guest for the first hour, then about one to two drinks per person for each additional hour. Buy extra water for riders, volunteers and hot-weather conditions, and chill the first supply before doors open.
- How many reusable cups, plates and cutlery sets do I need?
- Start with one complete set per expected catering guest and add at least 10% extra. For 100 guests, that means 110 cups, plates and cutlery sets, plus separate coffee cups if coffee is served.
- When should I arrange sound, lighting and catering equipment?
- Book hired sound, lighting and catering equipment at least two to four weeks before the show. Confirm delivery, power requirements and setup time again 48 hours before the event, especially when equipment must be transported to the waterfront.
