What to buy and bring for a Solex ride
A Solex ride needs more than one Solex per participant. Plan the riding gear, route information, safety equipment and supplies for the start and finish locations together. This list covers helmets, visibility gear, hydration, maps, repair equipment, furniture, tableware and catering equipment. Confirm the final participant count before shopping, then add one backup Solex and enough serving items for the full group.

Tips
- Allow one helmet, reflective vest and route map per rider, and keep one backup Solex available for the day. Check the fit and condition of every helmet before participants arrive.
- Pack one repair kit and bike pump for each riding group, plus spare inner tubes that match the Solex models. Test the equipment during the route check rather than discovering a problem at the start.
- Give each participant a way to carry water, such as a hydration backpack, and prepare chilled drinks for the finish. Set these out only after the final headcount is confirmed.
- For the reception or dinner, count one reusable glass, plate, cutlery set and seat per guest, then add a small buffer for breakage or late additions. Provide separate wine glasses and soup bowls only if those courses are on the menu.
- Bring route maps, safety vests and visible route signs to the start area, and keep ratchet straps available if Solexes or equipment must be secured during transport. Set out the maps and safety gear before the first group is released.
Frequently asked questions
- How many Solexes do I need for a group ride?
- Plan one Solex per confirmed participant, plus at least one backup Solex. Finalise the participant list before confirming the rental or delivery quantity, ideally several days before the ride.
- What safety equipment is needed for a Solex ride?
- Provide one bike helmet and one reflective or safety vest per rider. Keep the equipment at the starting location and check sizes, visibility and condition before the briefing.
- What should I pack for Solex ride repairs?
- Take at least one bike pump, repair kit and a set of spare inner tubes for each riding group. Check which tube sizes fit the supplied Solexes during the route inspection, no later than the day before.
- How much tableware do I need after the Solex ride?
- Count one plate, cutlery set, reusable drinking glass and seat per guest, then add 10% if the group size or catering numbers may change. Order or collect the tableware after registrations close.
