What You Need for a Pub Quiz
A pub quiz needs more than questions and a microphone. Plan supplies for registration, team tables, answer sheets, scoring, drinks and snacks, then check the equipment before guests arrive. For drinks, allow two to three per person during the first hour, plus water and non-alcoholic options. Buy or gather quiz materials early, especially printed booklets, pens, team badges and prizes, because replacing them on the day is difficult.

Tips
- Plan one answer sheet and one quiz booklet per team, plus 10% extra. For 10 teams, prepare 11 sets and at least 12 working pens.
- Allow two to three drinks per person for the first hour, then add one per person for each later hour. Include water and non-alcoholic drinks, and chill them at least 4 hours beforehand.
- Use one table for each team and leave a clear route to the quiz table, screen and reception table. Check the room layout before putting out tablecloths, glasses and snacks.
- Test the laptop, projector, screen, speakers, microphone, extension cords and power strips at least 2 hours before registration. Keep charging cables and a backup connection where the quiz host can reach them.
- Prepare prizes for each planned winning category and bring them to the venue before guests arrive. Put scoreboards, pens and team badges at the tables so registration does not hold up the first round.
