What to bring for a kitesurfing clinic
A kitesurfing clinic needs more than kites and boards. Plan equipment and supplies for registration, changing, safety, refreshments and a full day on the beach. Check one complete equipment set per participant, then add spares for damaged lines, pumps or wetsuits. The shopping list below also covers practical items people often arrange too late, including waterproof storage, shade, cool boxes and a reliable way to keep phones dry.

Tips
- Count one wetsuit, helmet, harness, pair of watershoes and suitable board setup per participant, then prepare at least one or two spare sizes for last-minute fit problems.
- Set aside a dedicated safety kit before loading the beach gear: first-aid supplies, a life ring, whistles, rescue vests, warning signs and enough barrier tape to mark the training zone.
- Pack one cool box for drinks and food, and chill it before participants arrive. For a half-day clinic, allow roughly 1.5 litres of water per person, plus extra for instructors and hot weather.
- Keep lines, pumps and reserve parts in a waterproof storage box at the registration area or equipment point. A small missing connector or damaged line can otherwise delay the first session by 15 to 30 minutes.
- Prepare the registration table with waterproof phone protection, pens, forms and a clear attendance check before the group arrives. Bring a party tent or other shade, and test extension cords and power strips away from wet areas.
Frequently asked questions
- How many kitesurfing equipment sets do I need for a clinic?
- Plan one suitable kite, bar and line set per active participant when everyone will practise at the same time. For a group of 10, prepare 10 working sets and at least one spare pump and reserve-parts kit.
- How much water should I bring to a kitesurfing clinic?
- Allow about 1.5 litres of drinking water per participant for a half-day clinic, or 2 to 3 litres for a full day or hot conditions. Add extra bottles for instructors and keep them cold in cool boxes.
- What safety equipment is needed for a kitesurfing clinic?
- Prepare a first-aid kit, rescue vest, life ring, whistles, warning signs and barrier tape before the group reaches the beach. Check the rescue equipment and mark the safety zone at least 30 minutes before the first briefing.
- When should I prepare wetsuits and helmets for the clinic?
- Sort and check all sizes at least one day beforehand, then lay them out before participant arrival. Have one or two spare wetsuits and helmets available because fit issues commonly appear during check-in.
