What to Bring for Gymnastics Training

Prepare the equipment, refreshments, and admin supplies before participants arrive. A gymnastics session needs more than mats and apparatus: you also need safe spacing, drinking water, registration materials, and a way to keep time. Check every item against the planned exercises and the number of training stations. Arrange key equipment and landing mats before opening the sports hall so the trainer can start without delaying the warm-up.

Tips

  • Plan at least one small exercise mat or suitable landing area for each active station, then add crash mats around apparatus where participants may land.
  • Bring enough reusable cups for every participant plus a few extras, and fill the water jugs before registration opens. Add more water if the session lasts longer than 90 minutes.
  • Set aside one chair per registration helper and place the participant list, schedule, and any dietary information at the registration desk before doors open.
  • Check that each apparatus is present and usable at least 30 minutes before training starts, including springboards, bars, beams, rings, and mini trampolines if they are part of the plan.
  • Pack a portable speaker, timer, magnesium, and small training equipment together so they can be tested and moved to the correct station without searching during the session.

Frequently asked questions

What equipment do I need for gymnastics training?
You need a gym floor, appropriate landing mats, and the apparatus used in the planned stations, such as bars, beams, springboards, or rings. Check the full equipment list at least 30 minutes before participants arrive.

Provide at least one mat or safe landing surface for each active station, with extra crash or thick landing mats around higher equipment. Add one or two spare small mats if the group is split across several stations.
How much water should I bring for gymnastics training?
Plan roughly 500 millilitres per participant for a standard session, then add extra for warm weather or training longer than 90 minutes. Bring enough reusable cups for everyone plus at least 10 percent spare.
What should I prepare before gymnastics participants arrive?
Set up the floor, mats, apparatus, registration desk, chairs, water, snacks, and speaker before opening the hall. Finish the safety and equipment check at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start.
